A seasonal creator calendar for consumer brands

When to seed, brief and publish for each moment of the consumer year, with the 2027 dates that food, home, family and outdoor brands plan around.

Published About 4 minutes to read

A seasonal creator calendar lists the moments your category sells in and works backward to when creators need product, a brief and time to film. A good rule for consumer brands is to seed product eight to twelve weeks before a moment, send the brief six to eight weeks before, and publish in the one to three weeks before it. Holiday content needs the longest lead time, so its planning starts in July or August.

Why creator content needs more lead time than ads

A paid social ad can be written on Monday and live by Wednesday. Creator content can't, for three reasons. Creators need to use the product before they can talk about it, which takes days or weeks for anything that's cooked, cleaned with or worn in. They film ahead, often several videos at once, so a holiday recipe may be shot while it's still warm outside. And a careful draft review takes time on both sides.

YouTube adds a fourth: a video goes on collecting views for weeks after it's published. Agentio went through 10,000-plus YouTube integrations and found the late arrivals, everything after day 30, accounted for nearly 40% of all views and 30% of all clicks (Agentio, January 2026). A Thanksgiving video posted in late October is still finding viewers in the week of the holiday.

The lead-time rule

Moment Seed product Send the brief Publish
Most seasonal moments 8 to 12 weeks before 6 to 8 weeks before 1 to 3 weeks before
Holiday gifting and hosting 12 to 16 weeks before July or August Early November to mid December
A new product or retailer 6 to 10 weeks before shelf date 4 to 6 weeks before From shelf date, in waves
Retailer sales events As soon as you plan to take part Approved before the dates are announced Inside the event window

These are the windows we work to, not an industry standard. Short-form content can move a little faster, while YouTube content benefits most from going out early.

The consumer year, season by season

Holiday dates below are for 2027. Each follows its fixed date or its rule: Thanksgiving, for example, is the fourth Thursday of November.

Winter: December to February

January belongs to New Year routines and resets, which suit cleaning, organizing, wellness and meal-planning products. February brings the Super Bowl and its game-day hosting, then Valentine's Day on February 14. Lunar New Year falls on February 6. Behind the scenes, product ships for spring cleaning and garden starts.

Spring: March to May

Spring cleaning runs through March and April. Easter falls on March 28 in 2027, which pulls baking and hosting content into mid-March. Earth Day is April 22. Mother's Day is May 9, and Memorial Day on May 31 marks the unofficial start of grilling season. These are the months to seed for summer camping, July 4 and Father's Day.

Summer: June to August

Father's Day is June 20, and summer break brings road trips, camping and outdoor cooking. Independence Day falls on a Sunday in 2027. Retailers run their own summer sales events on dates they announce. Back to school takes over August: lunches, routines and dorm rooms. Holiday creators should be briefed before the season ends.

Fall: September to November

Labor Day is September 6. Fall brings baking, comfort cooking and a refresh of the home, and hunting and fishing seasons open on dates that vary by state. Halloween is October 31. Thanksgiving is November 25, followed by Black Friday on November 26 and Cyber Monday on November 29. Gift guides and hosting content go live through November, with holiday content running into December.

Category notes

  • Food and drink has the busiest calendar, with a hosting moment in every season. Plan recipe content for YouTube first, since it keeps being found after it goes live.
  • Household is anchored by New Year resets and spring cleaning, with a smaller fall refresh before the holidays.
  • Home and garden follows spring planting, summer outdoor living, and fall and holiday decorating.
  • Family revolves around back to school, summer break and the holidays.
  • Outdoors runs from first trips in spring to peak season in summer, then hunting and fishing seasons in fall.
  • Pets has walks and outdoor time all year, hot-weather care in summer, Halloween costumes and holiday gifting.
  • Wellness peaks with New Year routines, spring resets and the back-to-routine weeks of September.

Retailer events

Amazon, Walmart and Target each run sales events on dates they set and announce themselves. You won't always know those dates when you brief creators, so plan for a window instead of a day: content approved, links ready, and creators able to post within a few days of the announcement. If you're taking part in an event, tell your creator team as early as you know, so seeding can allow for it.

Build your own calendar

  1. List your fixed dates: launches, shelf resets, retailer meetings and promotions.
  2. Add the seasonal moments your category sells in, from the list above or our playbook.
  3. Mark your two or three biggest moments, where most of the budget will go.
  4. Count back from each one: seed, brief, review, publish.
  5. Leave room for one or two moments you didn't plan, such as a creator's idea or a retailer's request.
  6. Look at the calendar again every quarter, and move what needs moving.

A calendar like this also makes budgeting easier. Once you can see when product needs to ship and when content needs to be live, it's clear which months carry the spend, and which are quiet months better used for seeding, testing and putting together the list for your next big moment.
